Make a deal with yourself: do the dreaded thing for five minutes. Then you're free to stop — honestly.

When it ends, you choose: keep going, or stop — guilt-free. Both count. The deal was five minutes, not forever.

Why five minutes works

Starting is the expensive part for an ADHD brain — the task looms bigger than it is. Five minutes is cheap enough to say yes to, and small enough that finishing it is almost guaranteed.

Do this now: name the thing you've been avoiding, start the timer, and do it badly until it rings.
