• A late reply beats a perfect reply that never sends.
• One honest line about the gap, then the actual reply. No apology essay.
• You do not owe anyone an explanation for the silence. Naming it lightly is enough.
• Reply to the message, not to the guilt.
• Send it at a normal hour if you can; a 1am reply reads as a spiral.

Short and warm wins every time. The other person wants to hear from you, not read a confession. Guilt writes long; friendship reads short.

Answer the original message before anything else. That is what they are waiting for; the lateness is a footnote.

2. Copy a line from above, then add one real answer to whatever they asked or said.
3. Hit send before you edit. Then put the phone down and let the relief land.
4. Tomorrow, open the next thread. One a day clears the pile inside a week.

The whole thing takes ninety seconds once you stop composing it in your head. Do not batch them. One thread per day is a pace, not a failure.
