The Sunday Reset Script

Updated August 2026 · 3 min read

Short version

  • Twenty-five timed minutes: dump, glance back, scan the week, pick three, stage Monday.
  • The look-back gets two lines and two minutes — this is a preview, not a trial.
  • There is a five-minute version for wrecked Sundays, and it counts in full.

Before the clock starts

Same rough time each Sunday, one place to write, one timer. That is the entire setup.

Follow the script instead of deciding it. When the timer moves, you move — no optimizing the order mid-run.

Do it before the evening slump if you can — the script runs on whatever fuel Sunday has left, and that tank empties early.

The 25-minute script

  1. 0:00 — Dump. Everything circling your head goes onto one list. No organizing, no judging, ugly is fine.
  2. 0:05 — Glance back. Two lines only: one thing that worked last week, one that didn't. This is fuel for this week, not a trial of the last one. Then stop.
  3. 0:08 — Scan the calendar. Look at the actual week. Spot the ambushes and note anything that needs prep or travel time.
  4. 0:12 — Pick three. Circle the three things the week hinges on. Three, not thirty.
  5. 0:15 — Write first steps. One physical first move next to each circled item, small enough to do without thinking.
  6. 0:19 — Stage Monday. Tomorrow's first task on a note where your eyes land first. Bag packed, keys in their spot.
  7. 0:24 — Close. One deliberate done-action: shut the notebook, clear the table. Then walk away like you mean it.

Twenty-five minutes, then you are free — finished or not.

The time anchors are suggestions, not law. Running five minutes behind is still on script.

The 5-minute wrecked-Sunday version

  1. 0:00 — Dump the loudest five things. Whatever is shouting gets written; the rest can shout.
  2. 0:02 — Glance at Monday's calendar only. No surprises before coffee is the whole goal.
  3. 0:03 — Write tomorrow's first step and put it where you will trip over it.
  4. 0:04 — Done. The week can start now.

A short script that happens beats a full one that doesn't. Run this version on the bad weeks without a shred of guilt. Monday-you wakes up to a list instead of a fog.

Keep it alive

Anchor the script to a Sunday thing that already exists — the slow coffee, the show, the takeaway order. The anchor remembers so you don't have to.

Keep the script somewhere you will actually see it — the fridge door, your phone wallpaper, the front of the notebook itself.

The script is a floor, not a ceiling. Finishing early is winning, not cheating.

Do this now

Pick your Sunday anchor right now, then let the full guide make the reset yours.
